Serving the children of Cherokee County, GA for more than 80 years
Founded in 1935, the Service League of Cherokee County, GA is the oldest volunteer service organization in Cherokee County. With its deep roots and rich heritage of caring for children, the League has grown to an organizational size of 100 women, all of whom commit to 10 years of active service and contribute volunteer hours that collectively approximate 10,000 hours per year. As a not for profit organization, the money we raise through our efforts is directed back into the community to help provide food, clothing, medical and dental care, eyeglasses, scholarships, and much more to identified children in need.
The 16th Annual Run for the Children "Reindeer Run" 5K Race & 1 Mile fun Run was held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Etowah River Park in Canton, GA.With the help of our sponsors, supporters, and runners we were able to raise $14,942.52 to benefit the children of Cherokee County.
Service League Celebrates Earnings from 34th Annual Riverfest Arts & Crafts Festival
Shannan Cagle (right), 2017-18 President of the Service League of Cherokee County, accepts a check on behalf of the Service League from the 2018 Riverfest Committee Chair, Kristin Gauthier (Left) in the amount of $126,962.82. Riverfest is the cornerstone of the Service League’s many fundraising endeavors, with all proceeds benefiting the needy children of Cherokee County. The funds raised during this event will be used throughout the upcoming year to provide assistance with everything from health care and eyeglasses for children in need to rent and utilities for their families.
2018 Dancing for the Children Celebrity Dance Challenge Winners are Crowned
The "Dancing for the Children" celebrity dance challenge and 52nd Annual Service League Ball was held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center in Canton, where Woodstock City Police Chief Calvin Moss and his professional partner Sierra Gooch lit up the stage to take home the coveted mirror-ball trophies!
Service League Awards $25,000 in Scholarships
The Service League of Cherokee County recently awarded $23,500 in scholarships to 21 deserving seniors in the class of 2016 who graduated from Cherokee County School District (CCSD) high schools. The League also made a $500 contribution to the High School Credit Recovery Class Scholarship program that is administered by the CCSD. In addition, the League awarded $1,000 in scholarship funds at the beginning of the fall 2015 semester to a Reinhardt University student as part of Reinhardt University’s A DAY for Reinhardt annual community initiative.
